Evaluation

One of the key principles for Convergence International is to institute data driven policies.  Practically, this means two things:

  • First, we look to programs and policies that have been shown to be effective in the past. For the past 20 years or so, development economists have been evaluating policies ranging from health to education to road construction determine which are cost effective and which are not. This allows us to learn from the mistakes of others and modify successful strategies to fit the needs of the people that we serve.
  • Second, we want to look at our own programs to determine how effective they are at accomplishing our goals. We are currently working with several economists that specialize in areas of economic development and program evaluation in order to put in place policies that will effectively evaluate our projects.
